Actress writer and phenomenal black woman Quinata Brunson won her first Emmy and we are beside ourselves with joy!
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer Quinta made Emmys history in the process.
With the award, Brunson becomes the second Black woman in Emmys history to take home an award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. The first was Lena Waite, who won with fellow writer Aziz Ansari for Netflix’s Master of None in 2017.
In her speech, she shared, “I want to say thank you to ABC, Disney, Fox, and Warner Brothers. I need to say thank you to Justin and Patrick, my co-showrunners.”
She also thanked Larry Wilmore, her parents, siblings cousins, and cast!
