Sexyy Red and Drake have been frequently seen together in recent months, a common occurrence given Drake’s history of collaborating with emerging artists.
Joe Budden, on the other hand, thinks Drake has something to gain finanacially from their close relationship.
According to VIBE Budden said:
“Respectfully, it sound like a ni**a that could rap at that level that gets paid off of everybody’s deal tryna rap. That’s what it sound like to me,” Budden said on a recent episode of his eponymous podcast. His co-host, Queenzflip, asked if this was confirmed, and Joe retorted with “Oh, you think he just like being around Sexyy Red that much?” His co-host, Officially Ice, agreed with him, and Budden also claimed this was the case for other rappers, though he did not name anyone in particular.
As the clip made its rounds on social media, it landed in the “Get It Sexyy!” artist’s X timeline. Her response?

Drake also seemingly responded to Joe Budden with an Instagram story this past weekend.
He posted a photo of Budden with the caption “What’s the vibes NY?!?” It wasn’t a particularly bad photo, but it was enough for people to think he met the theory with a humorous counter.
Drake and Sexyy Red first linked up during the former’s first leg of the It’s All A Blur tour.
Red went on to perform at several shows on the tour and later appeared on “Rich Baby Daddy” alongside SZA from the 6 God’s October 2023 album For All The Dogs.
They released the visual for the record on Valentine’s Day. The 6 God also appeared in the young star’s “Get It Sexyy” music video recently.

Drake and Sexyy Red friendship timeline
The first time we had any real inkling to a friendship between Drake and Sexyy Red real name Janae Nierah Wherry, was after one of his shows in Brooklyn last year in July.
Drake shared a picture of Red on his lap while giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“Just met might my rightful wife @sexyyred,” the “Hotline Bling” rapper wrote atop the snap.
Red shared the same photo to her Instagram and captioned it:
“I’m yo favorite rapper favorite rapper.”
In early August, Red told social media that she would be opening for Drake and 21 Savage for their “It’s All a Blur Tour”.
“Be there or be square come see a bad bthc,” she wrote on Instagram. “thank u Draaaaaake @champagnepapi.”
Money is her motivation
Red told Complex in May that her career goal is simple — make as much money as possible.
“I ain’t going to lie, I’m in it for the moolah,” she said. “Because I need money. I got to live. So I want all the money. Whatever I can do to get some money.”
