Six Simple And Soothing DIY Lip Masks To Heal Chapped Lips

‘Hey, I have chapped and dry lips. They are scaly and can sometimes decide to bleed. Want a kiss?’

You just made a face – kissing cracked lips seems like a scene from a horror movie, right? You are probably touching your lips, trying to figure out if they are dry.

Well, sometimes, our lips can get past the point of no return. If it isn’t dry air or the numbing cold, it’s the harsh sun rays or your cosmetics drying out your lips.

While a lip balm can help, in such cases, you’ll need something that can soothe your lips and give them a fresh look – a treatment for a clean slate—cue in the DIY lip mask.

Just like the face mask, you’ll let it sit for a bit, and voila! Your lips will be replenished and revived.

With that, here are some simple DIY lip mask recipes to try out.

DIY Exfoliating Lip Masks

Try touching your lips now. Do they feel rough and scaly? If yes, that’s probably dead skin cells.

Dry and chapped lips cause your skin to lift and flake. Gently exfoliating them can eliminate the dead skin cells that can prevent your lip balm from effectively moisturizing the new skin beneath the scaly areas.

Follow-Up Care

Therefore, you have to ensure that you:

• Stay hydrated – stick to the eight glasses of water a day rule
• Invest in a humidifier to help keep the air in your home moist
• Avoid licking your lips as it only dries them out
• Avoid products that contain chemicals that crack your lips – keep them away from dyes, alcohol, and fragrances
• Use coconut oil and honey for a refreshing boost
• Consult your dermatologist if nothing seems to do the trick
