Skai Jackson graced the Golden Globes on Sunday night and, amidst the red carpet glamour, fielded a question about what she left behind in 2023.
Rather than focusing on material things, the actress candidly shared that her reflections were more about the people she chose to leave behind than any specific possessions or items.

When she was asked about her reasons for leaving them behind she said
“they just were bad energy…. you just… new year you gotta level up, and if they are not ready to level up you cant bring them with you..so…I dunno”

Skai has opened up about her friends before.
In an interview with exclusivehollywood.co.uk in 2019 she said:
“I can tell if you’re genuine or you’re just trying to be friends with me […] for clout.”
“I used to have friends that get really annoyed. They’d be like, “you never come to hang out”. And I’m like, “Y’all don’t understand. I can’t just walk out the house, like I’ve got stuff to do! I’m working.” So it took me a while to find friends who truly understand.”‘
“For me, I have a very good judgement of character, so I can tell if you’re a genuine person or you’re just trying to be friends with me for attention, for clout.”
I “[…] It was hard at first. […] Half of them weren’t genuine people. […] I feel like in LA, – it’s really hard to find genuine people here.”
As we age, our circle of friends naturally diminishes, prompting us each year to discern whom we wish to keep close and whom we’ll gradually distance ourselves from.
