We have another athlete in trouble for taking cannabis.
American track and field Olympian Tara Davis-Woodhall has lost her indoor national title and received a suspension for violating anti-doping rules.
According to USA Today, the culprit was THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
Tara Davis-Woodhall Received A Reduced Sentence
Authorities collected Davis-Woodhall’s sample on February 17th after she made a 6.99-meter jump, winning the long jump at the 2023 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The test came out positive for THC.
However, the athlete’s suspension reduced to a month because she took marijuana out of competition and had already finished a substance abuse program.
Tara Davis-Woodhall served her time, which started on March 21st.

The athlete, who tied the knot with Paralympian Hunter Woodhall last year, is no stranger to track and field–she competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, placing sixth in the long jump.
But Tara Davis-Woodhall isn’t the only athlete who’s been in hot water because of cannabis in her system.
Remember U.S. sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson?
She tested positive for cannabis during the 2021 Olympic trials.
As a result, Richardson lost her first-place finish in the 100-meter dash and was sidelined for at least 30 days under the WADA’s anti-doping code, causing her to miss the Tokyo Olympics.
First, @usantidoping should clarify whether the urinary limit for THC is 150 ng/ml or 180 ng/ml. pic.twitter.com/LhQ5WdcHBv
