In a Deadline exclusive Teyana Taylor is set to make her directorial debut with actress Storm Reid.
Reid will also produce through her banner, A Seed & Wings Productions, alongside Kenya Barris and his Khalabo Ink Society.
Along with Barris and Reid, the film will be produced by Bill Karesh through OFFBRND, Robyn Simpson through A Seed & Wings Productions and Anni Weisband. Additionally, Taylor will executive produce with Coco Gilbert serving as co-producer. Eric Gross will pen the script.
The film follows a studious New York City teenager who has his world upended when he falls for a charismatic beatmaker (played by Reid) who recruits him to join her Litefeet dance crew, forcing him to choose between a safe academic path and his rekindled love of dance.
For Taylor, a Harlem native who first made a name for herself working as a choreographer and dancer, the project will allow the talented multi-hyphenate to further expand her resume into directing while simultaneously tapping into her roots.
Pivoting from a successful music run, the R&B superstar has embarked on a creative renaissance over the past few years, adding actress, producer, director, choreographer and stylist credits to her incredible career.

Teyana’s movie with Leonardo Dicaprio
Recently Teyana’s mom had to shift the media’s focus after Teyana Taylor and Leonardo DiCaprio were spotted at a pre-Oscars party on March 8, and rumors of a blossoming romance immediately swirled.
The two are part of an upcoming untitled American film written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, under the working title BC Project.
It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Teyana Taylor, and Wood Harris.
The film is scheduled to be released on August 8, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures
Leo and Teyana are seemingly close and TMZ couldn’t help but allude to suspicions of a budding romance.
However, Taylor’s mom, Nikki Taylor, wasn’t having it.
Teyana Taylor’s Mom Nips Rumor In The Bud
Hi, wanted to update here with some exclusive details.
I just spoke with Nikki Taylor, Teyana’s Mother WHO WAS AT THE PARTY WITH TEYANA— she tells me Teyana & Leo’s interaction was 100% innocent THEY ARE NOT DATING. LEO LOOKS AT TEYANA LIKE A SISTER. (See my next tweet for… https://t.co/HyPx30hBCg

According to Vibe, Nikki revealed to TMZ that the two are not dating, and their interaction was “100% innocent.”
“Leo looks at Teyana like a sister.”
“Because the WME party where they were was super loud. This is why they were so close. They were downstairs on the lower level where it was set up like a disco with a dance floor and loud music. Leo and Teyana are just two costars who ran into each other in the party and were talking. The convo was about food because Teyana brought her own chef to set every day and everyone including Leo had begun only eating from Teyana’s chef.”
We hope TMZ is just as excited to post about Teyana Taylor’s directorial debut as they were to refer to the Leo Video.
Let me check….
Nope..nothing yet!
