We came across a heated discussion on Twitter about ‘gym dress codes’ and we just had to get your opinion.
The discussion was started after a Twitter user posted a video of a woman in the gym either after a squat session or before.

Should gyms start having dress codes? ? pic.twitter.com/rzSGA1ioSq

As you can see, Sis had on some super short shorts her belt, and a long sleeve Tshirt, playfully bending over for a stretch.
Most gyms do have a dress code, for example, the YMCA used this statement:
Proper exercise attire is required and should cover the body appropriately. Tops should cover the full torso. Tank tops and sleeveless shirts must cover full torso including the chest and ribcage. Full-coverage shorts need to be longer than your glutes.
If you google “LA Fitness dress code”, the first result says:
LA Fitness doesn’t have a strict dress code but expects its members to use common sense when dressing for the gym. This means no dress shoes, no overly-revealing clothing, and nothing that is too baggy or has too many decorations that can get caught on the machines.
The arguments on Twitter fell into two huge buckets, there are those that feel wearing ‘skimpy’ clothing is unsanitary and there are those that think, dress codes should be enforced if men are included.
Unsanitary
Many think it’s unsanitary to have your bare skin on the gym equipment.
LOL having your bare cheeks out on gym equipment ewww bring back shame

I think bare bottoms is unsanitary in a public gym. She looks great but this is like wearing panties to the gym

For sanitation purposes, absolutely. This is too damn much

and
It’s strictly about the sheer amount of contact that your bodily fluids will have with public equipment. Wear why you want but keep it sanitary

Men should be regulated too
With all that said, what about the guys? Should there be a rule about not having a shirt on?
No , I’ve seen men go completely Shirtless and have boxers on
They only care when women do it— men posting their L (@Women_Forever1) July 18, 2023

As a previous gym employee, there are actual dress codes. From my experience, they’ve (usually male gm) only enforced the men’s dress code (always wear shirts, no see through etc.) when women come in like THIS (either large butt, nice figure) they turned a blind eye. Larger women

If men can walk around shirtless & with tiny ass shorts with their peen bulging out in the gym why can’t she wear this?

One user made the point that what the young lady was wearing is not against the dress code.
Gyms already have dress codes. This is not against it either. So I don’t understand why it’s an issue just because your husband or wife likes me doesn’t mean I gotta cover up this ain’t f***ing middle school where we can’t show our legs and shoulders bc the h***y men will get hard

The woman in the video goes by Kgrahamfitness on Instagram, short for Kelly Graham.
She describes herself as an online fitness coach often posting videos of herself in the gym.

Our opinion
It depends!
Honestly, the issue really lies with the individual who posed the question.
If you are a bodybuilder the outfits are even skimpier than that and usually when you are training…..like fr fr.. training….. nobody even cares.
Additionally, most gym girlies have different outfits for different days.
For example, the outfit for ‘chest and triceps day’ is much different from ‘leg day’.
People like to see their gains!
On the other hand, everybody should know when the outfit moves from ‘decent’ to ‘indecent/unsanitary’ .
