Looks like Jayda Cheaves has had a change of heart about her new swim design.
As we reported earlier today the entrepreneur is being called out by a black-owned brand and social media for blatantly copying one of the brand’s handmade designs. Read that post here.
Earlier Jayda said:
Oh, it’s NO shade. The girl I promoted back in 2020 was on the mood board for this summer’s swim. That what fashion is about remaking and recreating. It’s no shade at all. I never take offense when I’m on somebody’s mood board. Its how it go.
Now in DM Jayda told the brand:
Hi, I just want to say that I am very sorry about all of this. I realized you weren’t selling the bikinis anymore since 2021 so I didn’t think it would be a big deal since there’s plenty other brands with the same concept.
I definitely understand how this made you feel because Ive been a victim of think like this before & I’d hate to not go about this the right way without taking the accountability as a black female business owner as well.
I say all that to say i will NOT be selling the swimsuit inspired by your company. Wish you and your brand the best and much success. Maybe wone day we can collaborate in something even hotter XOXO sorry again.
On her Instagram stories, she said:
As I sat with this issue I realized that just because this happens to me daily doesn’t make it right for me to do the same whether its been years months or days. Imma take the L, stop the production and get back in the booth with my design team. Simple I take pride in always doing good business.
Then she added that she is back sober:
Jayda not selling those swimsuits anymore is the prime example of why we should bring back shame ???????? Shame really makes ppl do right . Whether they change out of correction or embarrassment… Shame works ????????
