Los Angeles County has agreed to pay Vanessa Bryant and her three daughters a $29 million settlement. The lawsuit, which was originally filed in response to the sharing of photos from the 2020 helicopter crash that ultimately killed her husband, NBA star Kobe Bryant, as well as their 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
The settlement includes the $16 million judgment she won against Los Angeles County in August 2022 and would mark the end to all pending litigation and potential claims from Bryant and her three daughters.
After the legal victory, Vanessa’s lawyer, Luis Li, made a statement to the New York Times:
“Today marks the successful culmination of Mrs. Bryant’s courageous battle to hold accountable those who engaged in this grotesque conduct. She fought for her husband, her daughter, and all those in the community whose deceased family were treated with similar disrespect. We hope her victory at trial and this settlement will put an end to this practice.”
According to TMZ, Ms. Bryant said she’d be donating the money from the settlement to her Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation.
