Yara Shahidi is officially a college graduate!
The 22-year-old Black-ish actress graduated from Harvard University on Friday, after starting her freshman year in 2017—in the same class as Malia Obama. Different from the former president’s eldest daughter, Shahidi graduated a year later after taking a gap year.
According to Vogue, Shahidi balanced being an undergrad at Harvard—pursuing dual academic tracks of African American Studies and Social Studies simultaneously—with being an actress for the last few years.
If you don’t already know, Shahidi got her start on ABC’s “Black-ish” as the Johnson family’s oldest child, Zoey. So naturally, her TV mom, Tracee Ellis Ross was one of many to congratulate her on her use accomplishment:
