Seeing black women set new trends and standards through entrepreneurship should be a highlight of all our days. Tenisha Williams is one of these women, and arguably among the highest achievers to date.
Who is Tenisha Williams?
She is the CEO of Elite Realty Partners, a real estate brokerage firm based in the South Florida area—Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
Her firm has just accomplished an impressive milestone by earning over $100 million in gross sales in just over two years.
Thanks to this milestone, Williams and her crew are basically set for life. However, they aren’t stopping or even slowing down.
Instead, they are remaining purpose-driven so they can help more families and individuals to achieve their goals of owning a home and acquiring real estate.
Of course, making more money down the line wouldn’t be bad either. Right now, the firm has about 140 different brokers with practically no marketing or advertising.
The agents just keep pouring in; a nice problem to have.
Making The Choice
Williams is a former county worker. From the get-go, she knew that that was not her fate. Even though her peers were satisfied with their benefits and looking forward to retirement, Williams had loftier goals. In 2017, she finally acted.
She told her husband that she wasn’t going back to work, and that was that. She loved real estate, and she had already earned an initial six figures while working part-time in real estate.
She was convinced that real estate was her true purpose; not county work. Even though she started her firm, being successful in a field as competitive as real estate is not easy.
After all, if anyone could earn $100 million in two years with hard work, everyone would be a multi-millionaire.
Faith and Hard Work
Elite Realty’s success exploded in a very short time. When asked what the secret was to this unprecedented growth, Williams simply attributed it to her faith and God’s favor.
She was determined to remain faithful and to put in the work. Right now, she manages a big team. However, the entire company has a culture of family.
No agent is isolated and everyone is there for each other.
This has led to agents becoming friends, working together, winning together, celebrating together, and helping each other to succeed. When each agent succeeds, the company grows, and every other agent benefits as a result.
Growing Together
To Williams, just being a CEO is not enough. She also considers herself a coach and is passionate about helping and developing other agents.
She tries her best to keep her team empowered and motivated to beat their goals. Perhaps because the goals she set for herself and the company were so ambitious, she struggled at first.
She has a strong personality, borne from being a teen mom and correctional officer. However, she soon learned how to make the right delivery in her communication so that she wouldn’t hurt or offend her team.
Just like it sounds, running a major real estate firm in Florida is not a walk in the park.
Williams faces unimaginable pressure, and sometimes she can’t even sleep at night because she’s always thinking of how she can add value to her team.
She feels personally invested in their careers, so she is serious about her responsibility. Despite this pressure, she ensures that she never touches work on Sunday and uses that day to focus on her family.
Another Black Woman Succeeds
Even though Elite Realty Partners is the biggest Black woman-owned brokerage firm in Southern Florida, Williams is not letting it get to her head.
She remains grateful to God and humble for the role He has entrusted to her. She aims to make the faces in real estate more diverse in her area.
