The longest I have ever gone without trimming my ends is a year and a half and as I type that I cringe at the thought of how horrible the ends of my hair looked at that time.
Enough was enough I went to a salon, straightened my hair and cut at least 2 inches of split, knotted, tangly ends that did not serve any purpose on my head.
These days I trim my hair often because my hair just looks better with sharp ends and I love the length that I have now and want to maintain it.
In this post I wanted to give you 5 simple reasons you should trim your ends without batting an eye:
1. Less breakage
When you get rid of split ends you reduce the overall tendency of your hair to split. What this means is the more you get rid of breaking hair the less your hair will break over time which will lead to healthy hair all year round.
2. You retain more length
If your ends are healthy you will retain more length because you won’t have to cut off a whole 2 inches like I did because I waited so long to correct a huge problem. Trim often, to reduce the split ends and cut off less everytime you trim. Your hair will grow at the same rate that it usually does which will give you the edge on growing healthy hair from root to tip.
3. Better looking styles
If you trim your hair your will see the difference when you style your hair, your curls will clump better, your twist outs will be smoother, your wash and gos will look amazing and your heat styles will be on point. Just about any style that you do with your natural hair always looks ten times better with healthy ends.
4. Detangling is a breeze
If you find that you have to snap through your ends or that you cannot pull your hair apart because there are knots that form at the end get a trim and watch those problems disappear.
The ends of the hair get so thin sometimes that they tend to wrap around each other creating small balls of hair that cannot be detangled. The only option you have is to get a trim which will sharpen the ends and make detangling a breeze.
5. Thicker fuller hair
Get rid of thinning ends and knots and you will notice that your hair will start to lift and look thicker from root to tip. If you like big hair and you want your hair to look fuller, try getting a trim and watch magic happen.
Have I convinced you yet? When was the last time you got a trim?
