Many of us have a story or two about a teacher that just changed our lives. Adele was recently reunited with a teacher from her past that she thought was ‘bloody cool’.
According to USA Today Adele was taking questions from the celebrity audience when actress Emma Thompson asked if there was someone from her younger days who supported her and inspired her to go on.
The 33-year-old said it was Ms. McDonald from Chestnut Grove School who got her interested in literature, which has been helpful now that she writes lyrics.
“She was so bloody cool, so engaging, and she really made us care, and we knew that she cared about us and stuff like that,” Adele said.
“She used to have all these gold bracelets and gold rings. She was bloody cool and so relatable and likable, that I really looked forward to my English lessons.”

The camera cut back to Thompson who revealed McDonald was in the crowd and Adele immediately burst into tears.
The two embraced on stage as McDonald said, “I’m so proud of you.”
“Oh my god. No you really did change my life,” Adele said.
She later posted about the moment on Twitter: “Home Sweet Home. I’ve always dreamt of doing An Audience With… There was so much love in the room for eachother, it felt like such a gig! Everyone was raucous and bang up for it! And my teacher Ms McDonald was there, it was just heaven,” she wrote.
“Teachers, you really do change lives,” wrote Education Support, a U.K.-based charity supporting teachers’ mental health and wellbeing.
