Now, this is a duo we can get behind!
Entrepreneurs Katelyn Jackson and her mom Lakeisha Jackson own SGH (Sweat. Grind. Hustle) Apparel, an athleisure lifestyle brand.
This was a history-making move as the store made SGH Apparel the first Black mother-and-daughter-owned shop in Westfield Topanga Mall.
Remember that Westfield Topanga Mall is among the most luxurious malls in LA.
But the mom and daughter weren’t done.
They have now expanded SGH Apparel to a new location: Century City’s Westfield Century City Mall.
Based in California, the store is a mere five minutes from the famous Beverly Hills.
And it comes less than a year after they opened the Westfield Topanga Mall store.
Making Money Moves
The mother-daughter team teamed up with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) and the reputable Los Angeles Urban League (LAUL) Entrepreneurial Center.
They got assistance from these corporations, including business resources, capital, and funding.
And this investment was worth it: the mall they targeted, Westfield Century City, is among the most prominent malls in LA.
The mall is massive, spanning 1.3 miles.
And it’s even more popular than Disneyland: the mall gets 2.5 times more visitors yearly.
This means the store is constantly being exposed to thousands of people daily just from foot traffic.
But that’s not where the story ends.
SGH Apparel has also released a men’s line.
On top of this, they also sell curated clothes for women and men on Amazon.
According to Lakeisha, SGH is a lifestyle brand that caters to multi-dimensional individuals.
It targets go-getters who apply pressure to every aspect of their daily lives.
For people constantly on the move, SGH Apparel makes their hard work fashionable; their gear is fashionable, stylish, and versatile.
Aiming High
SGH Apparel’s biggest aim is to become a global force.
The owners are hunting for distributors who will bring their brand to the masses.
And after conquering high-end LA, this seems inevitable.
Best of luck to the mother-daughter team!
