German rave music? Who said dat? Apparently, not Doja.
In a recent interview with Elle, the ‘Woman’ singer/rapper said she was currently grooving to/and inspired by the German rave vibe of the 1990s, and she’s sort of embracing that, adding: “I love that stuff as a kid and now that I can express it… That’s kind of a hint to the album. Rave culture, not house.
But in a series of tweets on Tuesday (Sept 20), Doja Cat backtracked her previous comments, and now it seems she’s no longer picking up glow sticks and pot balls but might be pulling on our heartstrings instead.
The tweet read, “I’m not doing a german rave culture album, you guys. I was pranking the outlet that interviewed me about it.”

She went on to say that she’s been working on an R&B album before saying it was actually an “experimental jazz album.”
In a separate follow-up tweet, Doja posted an audio clip which she captioned ‘The Truth’ and said she was, in fact, working on a rock album.
Yall I was lying. I’m doing an experimental jazz album. I thought it would be funny to steer you into believing i was doing r&b cuz i knew it would work but I’m doing experimental jazz now, honest truth.

“I’m putting out an album, and this time, I’m being serious. I am putting out a rock album; it’s going to have emo jams. The name of the album is going to be called ‘Rock Out Volume One – The Abyss 5000,’, so keep on a lookout for that,” she said.
“I am entering a rock phase, and I hope everyone enjoys.”
The ‘Say So’ rapper went on to say that she’s going to “spit flames from my mouth on stage” and learn how to play the guitar.
We’d be lying if we said we’re not entirely confused by this. We’ll stay on our toes and wait to see what Ms Doja graces our playlists with next!
There is currently no word on when Doja Cat is set to release her fourth album.
