Eva Marcille is making it clear that wearing her locs on set is a priority for her.
The ‘All the Queen’s Men” actress visited the Crystal Renee Hayslett “Keep It Positive Sweetie” Podcast dishing about her career, her life, her work, her faith and her children.
We loved the entire episode, but when sis got to talking about her non-negotiables on set, with regards to hair and makeup!!!….Chile we were snapping our fingers like we were in church!
Eva shared that she has been very selective about doing shows that show black women as black women by even wearing her hair as her character.
In the show “all the Queen’s Men” Eva plays the role of “Marilyn ‘Madam’ Deville” – a “fierce businesswoman who is at the top of her game in the nightclub industry and surrounded by a band of trusted employees who are down to make sure that she is successful.”
Eva said when they started the preproduction process ….the look of the character was very important.
What does this gangster, but poised, business, but ‘from the hood’ person look like?
She said:
The production team wanted me to wear a wig, a bob, and I was like no, we are not doing that… and I fought, and I fought, and I fought… that was a battle I was willing to fight, because I wanted every frame when I look back on this powerful, strong, amazing, feared, respected woman, to stand boldly in all her blackness.. so yea, we wear locs”

Eva has always been transparent about her loc journey! In 2020 when she was just three months in, she shared:
Three months in on my loc journey. I am absolutely in love. My daughter Marley has been loc’d for almost 5 years and I’m just trying to get like her. I love the freedom my locs give me. Hair is just hair but it is alive. It moves and sways as it feels on that day. Just let it be! Helps to polish up who I am, a Sunflower in human form🌻.” Fans showered Marcille with adulation over her authentic beauty.
