Jay-Z is a rapper with impeccable taste, and he returned to the spotlight after a rare sighting at the 2023 Grammy Awards, where he performed with DJ Khaled.
The Grammy-winning MC is ready to take the stage again, this time for a “celebratory concert” that’s part of the Basquiat x Warhol exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in France.
But this isn’t your traditional concert.
Jay-Z Is Honoring Major Icons
According to Uproxx, The billionaire rapper is paying tribute to two of the most iconic artists of our time, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
He is also sponsoring the concert through Tiffany and Co.
Despite the Basquiat estate being uneasy with the rapper’s music, he insists he’s a fan.
In fact, the rapper’s love for Basquiat is so strong that he raps about him in his songs.
And not just Basquiat, but Warhol too.
It’s safe to say that both artists serve as Jay-Z’s muses.
The announcement came on Twitter.
To coincide with the #BasquiatWarhol exhibition at the Fondation, JAY-Z will give a concert to pay tribute to Warhol and Basquiat, on Friday 14 April 2023 at 9 pm, in the Fondation’s Auditorium.
This isn’t the first time that Jay-Z has blended live performance with visual art.
In 2013, he gathered visual artists across mediums for his project, Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film.
But don’t let the lack of new music fool you–Billboard still named the billionaire the Greatest Rapper of All-Time.
And after six years without a new album, the rapper returned triumphantly to the 2023 Grammy Awards.
So, if you want to witness Jay-Z paying tribute to the legends who inspired him, head to the Foundation Louis Vuitton in France on April 14th at 9 p.m.
And who knows, you might see some exhibits on the way there!
