Karen Pittman, known for her role as Dr. Nya Wallace in the “Sex and the City” revival “And Just Like That,” will not be part of Season 3.
Following her appearances in the first two seasons of the “Sex and the City” revival on Max, the streaming platform confirmed that Pittman will not be returning for the upcoming season due to scheduling conflicts.
In a statement to Variety
A Max spokesperson said:
“It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of ‘And Just Like That,’” “As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible. Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of Season 3 of ‘And Just Like That’ Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”
During Season 2 of “And Just Like That,” Karen Pittman had to balance her commitments on the show while also being frequently featured in scenes separate from the main cast.
This was because she was simultaneously filming as a series regular for “The Morning Show.” Recently, Pittman was announced as a co-star in Mara Brock Akil’s adaptation of Judy Blume’s novel “Forever” for Netflix.
Pittman’s departure marks the second actor who won’t be returning for the new season. Earlier in February, Variety reported that Sara Ramírez, known for portraying standup comedian Che Diaz, would also not be reprising their role.
With these changes, the romantic connection between Michelin-starred chef Toussaint Feldman (played by Gary Dourdan) and Dr. Wallace has been left in suspense, adding a layer of intrigue to the upcoming season.
