Latto has established herself as one of the hottest new female rappers.
And her accolades support this fact:
- Best New Artist nomination at the 2022 Grammy Awards
- 2023’s first rapper to land a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100
- Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the 2022 BET Awards
- Best New Hip Hop Artist at 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards
Despite Latto’s impressive achievements, many have criticized her for being an “industry plant” as they argue she came out of nowhere and blew up.
However, the 25-year-old rapper has insisted she took years of hard work to reach her level of success.

To prove her doubters wrong, Latto shared a now-viral clip of her 13-year-old self rapping in front of a live audience.
According to Complex, the video proves she started honing her skills way before winning The Rap Game at 16.
The rapper used the clip to remind people to keep pursuing their dreams.
“Don’t give up.”
Last October, the rapper addressed the “industry plant” claims on X (formerly Twitter).
“I been doing this since a kid & I get real love/respect from the greats for that… I came up before social media I handed out mixtapes, did open mics & talent shows, etc I hate when y’all say this.. I worked VERY long & hard to be here. Being relevant since 16yo is not easy or common.”
Latto’s next career move is a role on Rhythm + Flow’s sophomore season, a Netflix reality competition series seeking the next big rapper.
