It’s official: Michael B Jordan and Ryan Coogler are working on a secret film.
In fact, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the project’s secrecy was so tight that the executive had to go to the WME office just to read the script.
The untitled project will be Coogler’s next film after making the groundbreaking Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Coogler will direct and is the writer, while Jordan will star.
A Collabo Between Ryan Coogler And Michael B Jordan Can Be Great
The untitled project is the first spec script from Coogler’s production company, Proximity Media.
The only other spec he wrote was 2013’s Fruitvale Station–also starring Jordan.
Coogler has allegedly kept the project so secret that buyers and executives had to visit the Beverly Hills offices of WME—Coogler and Jordan’s agency–to learn about the script.
The second step is happening this week, with interested parties meeting Coogler to learn about his vision.
If they are interested, they’ll have to give a production commitment.
The little we know of the project is that it’s a “genre” feature.
However, that only narrows it to horror, science fiction, fantasy, or thriller.
Two sources revealed that the film has a period element, though it’s not confirmed.
Ryan Coogler is among today’s most sought-after filmmakers, making one hit after another.
Michael B Jordan is also hot property in Hollywood as he gives a commanding presence in films he headlines and is a scene-stealer in films he has a supporting role in.
With all the secrecy around it, this project sounds like it’ll be a blast.
