Under the rapper’s scholarship fund, two Chicago students will each receive $50,000 to support their tuition expenses when they enroll at Howard University.
The rapper emphasized his intention to change the narrative and provide opportunities that he and others never had growing up.
He acknowledged the lack of similar initiatives within the current music landscape, particularly among artists of his generation.
Instead of charity work like providing meals, Lil Durk and his team elevated their efforts to create a distinctive and meaningful impact, resulting in the scholarship fund.
However, Lil Durk’s commitment isn’t just the $50,000 scholarship.
The rapper also made a generous donation of $250,000 to support eligible students from Chicago through Howard University’s Graduation Retention Access to Continued Excellence (GRACE) Grant.
This program offers financial assistance to help students stay on track toward graduation.
“For me to boost them up and get them to the next level, it was like a no-brainer. And this scholarship was a super-no-brainer for me. For me and my team, having my own scholarship is like a Grammy.”
The rapper also arranged a memorable experience for 20 Chicago high school students by funding a trip to Howard University.
Additionally, the rapper was the headliner at Howard University’s Springfest 2023, further strengthening his connection with the institution and its students.
