Pizza Hut is incentivizing kids to read during the summer holidays with Camp Book It!
According to People, this summer incentive extends the brand’s Book It! which runs during the school year.
They have opened enrollment for this year’s summer program and for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
The incentive empowers parents and teachers to persuade kids to “Read Your Heart Out.”
In return, the kids get free Pizza Hut pizzas.
Pizza Hut’s Camp Book It! Will Encourage More Kids To Read
For 40 years the BOOK IT! Program has encouraged children to read for the fun of it! Now it’s time to inspire the next generation of readers through our new digital options. The brand released an official mission statement:
“Our work is more than just a corporate mission, it’s a personal challenge to turn have to read into want to read. We know our time-tested incentives work. We are the largest and longest-running corporate supported reading program and now we are fostering the second generation of program alumni. We know that reading makes a difference.”
So, how does the program work?
Parents put monthly reading goals for their kids in a digital dashboard.
When their kids reach those goals, they get Reading Award Certificates–digital coupons offering a free, one-topping Personal Pizza Hut Pan Pizza.
The company knows that each child reads at a different pace, so the goals differ.
“You can set goals based on your students’ reading ability. Number of minutes, number of pages or number of books – they all work! For children not yet reading independently, you can set a goal where their parent or others read to them.”
Best of all, kids can read anything from books to “magazines, eBooks and anything fun.”
The company also thought of kids overdoing it–they can only get one free pizza per month.
The program is free for parents and schools from pre-K to sixth grade.
After finishing the summer program, kids can continue participating in the regular Book It! program, which runs between October 1 and March 31 every year.
