Mico’s Hot Chicken
Mico has always loved spicy food.
When she discovered Hot Chicken, Mico was hooked.
She traveled to Nashville to eat Hot Chicken at the source, and this inspired her to start her Hot Chicken spot.
In 2019, Mico teamed up with her husband to start a food truck selling these Hot Chickens.
Things picked up so fast that they soon owned one of the latest brick-and-mortar Black women-owned restaurants: Mico’s Hot Chicken.
What They Offer
Mico’s recipe is her take on Prince’s Hot Chicken, with searing-hot sandwiches with coleslaw and her signature sauce.
The restaurant also offers waffle-cut fries with cheese, spicy chopped chicken, and crispy tenders.
If you’re feeling adventurous, try the tangy house ranch dressing.
Alternatively, try the spicy honey, which you can drizzle on everything from ice cream to sandwiches.

If you’re in the mood for seafood, Miss Patty’s Southern Soul & Sea Food Kitchen is among the best Black women-owned restaurants you can try.

This experience inspired Miss Patty to launch her food truck in 2012: The Food Patty Wagon.
In 2015, she opened another food truck: Miss Patty’s Seafood-N-Chicken Cuisine.
Recently, the Chicago native opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant called Miss Patty’s Southern Soul & Sea Food Kitchen.
