Turkey Leg Hut is facing criticism on social media after firing its employees and co-owner over email.
According to the Houston Chronicle, co-founder Lynn Price–who created Turkey Leg Hut in a parking lot across from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2015 with wife Nakia Holmes–lost his job on Monday night.
A Senior Change Management Consultant allegedly sent the email.
“This decision has been reached in the context of an extensive restructuring effort necessitated by the company’s imperative needs to align operational costs with our financial realities and strategic objectives.”
Price commented under the post:
“I can’t make this s*** up…”
Other social media posts included screenshots from an employee chat group, accusing Turkey Leg Hut of firing half its staff.
Price and Holmes founded Turkey Leg Hut, but its future has been murky after they divorced.
Holmes Has Made A Controversial Choice For Turkey Leg Hut
Holmes wrote her employees about the company’s “decision to reduce our workforce.”
“[My] personal journey has undergone considerable changes, including a divorce that, in more ways than one, has impacted not just my life but the operational stability of our business.”
The leaked email came after allegations that the company hadn’t paid some staffers in over a month.
Holmes revealed that the company isn’t closing, but they have planned for new management and are “aiming for a revival by late summer or early fall.”
Holmes posted on Instagram in November that she and Price had separated and hinted there would be changes in their company.
“I’m finally closing this chapter, but I know the battle is about to commence and I’m ready.”
The company has turned off comments on its social media posts.
