Spiritual wellness is something that people think of as a semi-regular thing.
It comes in a divine epiphany from God every few months, or something you just fall into when you go to church every Sunday; We tend to collectively see it as something that you do every now and again to stay grounded in the faith of your choice.
But the reality is that to be spiritually attuned with the divine and yourself requires daily practice.
From showing gratitude for the meal you’re about to eat, to saying affirmations as soon as you wake up in the morning, spiritual wellness can be found in even the smallest day-to-day practices.
Ready to step deeper into your alignment? Here are 3 daily habits to help you live a more spiritually well life.
Speaking life into yourself.
They say that life and death are in the tongue, and that couldn’t be more true.
When you are someone who speaks from a place of gratitude, love, healing, and understanding, your life tends to look a lot different than those who speak dissatisfaction, hatred, jealousy, and close-minded ideas into the world.
Simply put, spiritual wellness will always start with how you think and speak.
Whether it’s to yourself, God, the Universe, or just the people around you, every word you share will always reflect back to you—and then ultimately back into your mind, body, and soul.
So speak life into yourself and your environment. Pray with fervor; Affirm your positive beliefs with confidence and conviction; Speak to others with empathy and understanding. All in all, choose to use the power of the tongue for life and not death.
Meditation and contemplation.
It has long been thought that meditation is simply sitting down, closing your eyes, and allowing yourself to drift away into the solitude of darkness.
That’s one form of it, but when it comes to spiritual wellness, sometimes meditation is just another word for reflection.
Sometimes, when we’re caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, we forget to stop and meditate on the things around us. Is this job right for me?
Are these friends really healthy to have around? Does this food I love so much actually agree with my body?
Contemplating and reflecting on the things we’re a part of every day helps us ensure that we’re walking along the right path.
Meditation can be uncomfortable to fit into your life. But fitting into your life can be uncomfortable without meditation.
Regular mental and emotional release.
The idea that cultivating a sense of true spiritual wellness means that we have to disconnect from our very human thoughts and emotions is incorrect.
Without accepting the fact that we are imperfect humans, we cannot begin to know the importance of spirituality.
And so, giving yourself to regularly release your thoughts and emotions in a healthy way every day should be a cornerstone of healthy, consistent spiritual practice.
Do you like to journal your thoughts every night?
Maybe it helps to put your feelings into singing a song that resonates with you.
Or if you’re anything like me, putting all your love and care into a meal or super-expressive painting is how you get it all out.
Whatever it is that gives you comfort, make sure you implement it into your daily routine—your spiritual wellness is counting on it.
