Amanda Seales is opening up about how she is treated within black spaces in the entertainment industry noting that she never gets invited to Essence Women in Hollywood or even the NAACP Image awards.
In a tiny rant captured on social media Amanda said
“I just want to say something… if it wasn’t for ya’ll I would really think that I ain’t do sh*t because the industry I’m in does not recognize me… and to be clear I am speaking about the black spaces in the industry because ya’ll know I don’t give two damns about any of these other spaces .. the black spaces is what I’m referring to which is largely in part why I think I have to shift out of this industry…I don’t get invited to Essence Women in Hollywood … I’ve never been invited to the NAACP Awards… I’ve been nominated for an Image award…never been invited to the NAACP Image awards. Never been honored at Black Girls Rock… I’ve hosted these events… I literally hosted the BET awards in 2020 in my F**** house and I was not invited to the BET awards since…
She continues by thanking her fans:
Thank ya’ll for always reminding me that I really am valuable, because the game and the industry that I have been in has never let me know.
Watch:
This isnt the first time Amanda has spoken out about not having the respect she deserves within the industry. In 2019 when she was denied entry to a black people’s Emmy party she said:
“For the record, I am being denied entrance to the Black people’s Emmy party,” she said, standing outside the event. “And it’s a white woman telling me I can’t go in. I just want to put this on record that I am literally being told, ‘You cannot get entrance into a party that Jesse Williams invited me to.’ That is the only Black event for the Emmy weekend because a white woman is telling me I can’t get in. But I’m fine.”
“This is security escorting me out of the Black Emmy party, that’s what’s happening,” she said in the video.
“This is just to remind y’all that like, it really doesn’t matter how hard you work or how good of a person you are, you just gon’ be in some bulls**t,” she said. “The fact that I was literally humiliated just now, because four security guards were asked to come and remove me from a party that is supposed to honor Black people at the Emmys, and it was a white woman named Kiara who made it her business to do this. Oooh, I’m not going to cry though.”
“Some hater b***h, or some hater n***a, put the battery in her back,” she continued. “When we do that s**t, and we empower s**t like that, it just really shows how powerless we really are to our ego, and to pettiness. And I really just feel sorry for those folks. Because they really think they’re doing something, and you’re not. Because I still look bomb as s**t even though I was standing on the street corner.”
In 2022 Columbia University graduate shared her thoughts about being considered a ‘polarizing individual’.
In an interview with Comedy Hype she said:
“You know the whole difficult to work with thing, it came out of me just voicing that, it came out of me voicing the negatives that took place in certain work spaces I’ve been in,” ….“people wanting to turn me into this person who just can’t get along with anyone, and it was always fascinating to me ’cause I’ve been in this game longer than anyone I’ve even ever worked with.”
I will absolutely admit yeah, I’m difficult to work with if you don’t have your s—t together. True indeed. I’m also difficult to work with if you are trying to slight me. I’m not going to make that easy for you. If you’re not going to show up the way that we’ve agreed we’re both going to show up, this is going to be difficult for you,”
The fact is Amanda has a long resume within the industry and she has never been shy about speaking her mind, do you think her no-nonsense attitude has contributed to how ‘spaces’ treat her?
They hate Amanda Seales they can’t take that she stand on business and calls out everybody including herself for their problematic behavior. A self aware black queen with some money that’s dangerous and they know it
