Marvin Gaye III has filed for divorce from his wife, Wendy, in the middle of a tumultuous time.
The son of the late Motown legend Marvin Gaye listed the date of separation as January 12th, the same day he was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at Wendy.
According to TMZ, Marvin cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and has requested that his wife not be granted any spousal support.
Marvin Gaye III’s Marriage Was Rocky
Marvin and Wendy have no children together.
However, he has two sons from his former relationships.
This filing comes after the couple was involved in a domestic violence dispute earlier this year.
Wendy sought court-ordered protection from Marvin after he allegedly physically assaulted her and his cousin during a heated exchange in January.
According to Wendy, Marvin grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off the ground before attacking both women and threatening them with a gun.
Police were called to Marvin’s Calabasas home, but he fled the scene, leaving two firearms inside.
He later turned himself in and was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon.
Marvin is the adopted son of Marvin Gaye and his late wife, Anna Gordy Gaye.
Tragically, his father was murdered by his own father in 1984 while trying to break up a domestic dispute between his parents.
It’s a difficult time for Marvin and his family, but we hope they can find peace and healing as they navigate this challenging chapter.
