What would you do if you caught your partner in your bed with a skinny model version of you? Swear off the relationships and become a certified spinster, right?
Or perhaps get revenge by busting the windows out their car (like Jasmine Sullivan), burning their clothes (like Angela Bassett in Waiting To Exhale), or maybe, just maybe, going the Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau) way and act civilized but also take back the elephant carving you got them in Mozambique?
Either way, you’ll need your besties to prop you up, remind you that you’re a sexy thick girl just having a Mo’ment, and help you learn how to seize the love, happiness, and success you deserve.
That’s what Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest is all about (in a nutshell).
The show stems from Buteau’s honest and hilarious first book of the same name, and it was created to empower curvy women and remind society that fat Black women exist and are thriving.

Survival for the Thickest also features badass women (Garcelle Beauvais, Tasha K Smith, Annisa Felix, Michelle Visage, and Peppermint), incredible curvy-women-supporting men (Tone Bell, Marouane Zotti, and Taylor Sele) and consists of a stunning, high-fashion plus-size and Black woman looks.
So, if you haven’t watched the series yet, you can stream it on Netflix.
For now, let’s check out some of the best fashion highlights from Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest!

The Best Fashion Moments On Michelle Buteau’s Survival Of The Thickest
Some of the most stunning looks from the show include but are not limited to:
This Green And Luxe Coat Ensemble

This fit is one of my favorite and most memorable fashion looks from Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest. Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau’s character) bodied it like a baddie and paired it with a bold lip and confidence/sassiness that all of us should channel every day!
There is no information on where to get it, but you could get a similar coat from Macy’s and ASOS. The shoes (not the same color, but there are cute olive Steve Madden Harli Booties at Nordstrom for only $110).
Marley’s Magnificently Purple Dress

TBH (and if we’re all honest with ourselves), every look from Survival of the Thickest deserves an award. If they don’t win best fashion in the next award season, Imma write a letter because they deserve it!
And one of the looks that killed it was this purple ensemble rocked by the marvelous Marley (played by Tasha K Smith). And it did what she intended it to do for her – score a date with the brilliant Dr Britta.
You can get the dress from Saks Fifth Avenue for $164 only. ?
Mavis Beaumont’s Wildfang Red Tux Ensemble

We love how Mavis (Michelle Buteau) represented the drumstick-emoji-physiques with every fashion look. And this Wildfang tux ensemble definitely got me reconsidering my take on tuxes. She rocked it better than any guy I know of. And the red color compliments her skin perfectly.
You can get the whole tux at wildfang.com at – wait for it – only $93!! Yup, the tux blazer is currently on sale from $204 to ($60), while the pants just jumped from $134 to ($33).
Natasha’s Barbiecore Ensemble

Natasha Karina (played by Garcielle Beauvais), a supermodel in the 90s hellbent on preserving her sleek and lean image, gets styled by Mavis in this Zhivago pink neck gown, and she looked exquisite.
It’s the perfect look for a sexy yet subtle outfit for a high-tea event, an end-of-year party at the office, or even a formal wedding.
You can get it at Saks Fifth Avenue for a whopping $650!
Mavis’ Bold Workout Fit

This Michelle Buteau workout fit has been making rounds on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) for all the right reasons! It is so freakin’ gorgeous. The colors mesh well together (inspired by Brazil’s lively culture), and it looks incredibly comfortable.
To add it to your activewear collection, get it from farmrio.com at $60.
Peppermint’s Prom Night Gown

In episode eight of Survival for the Thickest, Mavis throws a prom night party for every kid excluded from their school’s prom night because of their orientation.
And while everyone serves it, Peppermint steals the show with her statement-making red gown covered in sparkling embellishments and paired with a structured neckpiece.
The fit was custom-made, but you can get a similar look from Saks Fifth Avenue for a quarter of the price.
Mavis’ “Cartoon Mouse” Fit

Natasha (Garcielle) teased Mavis (Michelle Buteau) for rocking this fit, but she looked terrific. And isn’t that what’s fashion about – owning your personal style (no matter what that is) and being comfortable in your clothes?
Yes, she looked like a Disney character (in the best way possible), but she bodied it! I personally loved the Circus NY White Booties for $60 (shoes are my jam), the mousy half-space buns, the half-down curly hair, and that sexy, sexy Adolophine Blue Leopard Print Handbag ($350).
Natasha’s Green Sequin Mermaid Gown

Now, for you to drop a dildo in your ex’s coffin, you better look like a damn Queen, and Natasha did precisely that.
This La Femme Strapless Sequin Mermaid Gown ($470) loved on her body, and she turned heads and got people uuwwing and aaahing as she said her final goodbyes to the only man who’ll be sporting a dildo in the spirit world.
Mavis’ Re-imagined Menswear Look

Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau) looked elegant, bodacious, and sexy with this Farm Rio Blue Striped Set. It’s the perfect look for serving up racist Karens and painting murals with your bestie for a cool Black-owned coffee shop.
To rock this look, head over to farmrio.com and get one at a cool price.
Marley’s Green Powersuits

Girl boss Marley (Tasha K Smith) represented all the girl bosses out there owning their space in every male-dominated corporation, and she did it look fierce asf!
The sexy green powersuit she rocked while sending Mavis (Michelle Buteau) some Venmo coins (she needed it) and the jungle green ensemble she bodied at a meeting with her colleagues made me want to shout #BlackGirlPower at every narcissist that comes my way!
If you want to mirror Tasha, hit up your stylist RN and get them to make you a custom fit. That’s the only way to ensure you get a body-flattering and attention-commanding ensemble!
Mavis’ Prom Tulle Mini Dress

Who can forget this Mavis (Michelle Buteau) fit? Definitely not us. It was the IT prom dress of the entire season!
To get a similar pick, head over to eBay, it’s currently going for $400, but you could always make a bargain and get it for a cheaper price.
