We can all agree that this has been a pretty stressful year and most of us are trying to figure out ways to decompress daily. Maya Angelou once said “If I am not good to myself, how can I expect anyone else to be good to me?” In this post, we have 4 ways you can renew yourself weekly.
Make regular space for self-care.
Self-care is perhaps the most important thing we can do to honor ourselves, and it’s still wildly underrated.
Sometimes taking care of yourself looks like eating your favorite meal and a candle-lit bubble bath. And other times, self-care is simply remembering to put lotion on your ashy feet and go to sleep before midnight.
Every week, make it your goal to figure out what it is that you need and do your best to give it to yourself. It doesn’t always have to big or expensive or extravagant, it just has to be healing and fulfilling for you.
Try weekly detoxing.
Detoxing is just ridding the mind, body, and soul of toxicity. As humans, we need to detox from certain things we consume regularly in order to maintain balance and overall wellness.

Mind: Detox by quieting outside influences. Unplug from social media, journal all of your negative or limiting beliefs, write down what you are grateful for, read books and materials with uplifting messages, and speak positive affirmations.
Body: Detox by cutting out unhealthy foods and drinks. Stop smoking and drinking, cut out processed foods that are high in sugar and fat, increase how much fruit and vegetables you eat, get a check-up, drink water, get in a good 30 minute walk or workout, and sleep.
Soul: Get back in touch with your beliefs. Pray, meditate, do the things that make you feel good, reconnect with people that make you feel alive, be generous and volunteer, listen to music you enjoy, get creative, forgive, and give love to yourself and others.
Invest in at-home sauna and steam therapy methods.
Steam therapy is exactly what it sounds like—using steam to help you find relief and release. While it may sound too basic to be therapeutic, it actually does come with a world of mental and physical benefits.
Steam therapy is known to improve circulation, reduce stress, regulate blood pressure, relax muscles, purify and detox skin, boost your immune system, and eases respiratory issues.
Humidifiers, steam baths, and showers are all practical ways you can utilize spa-quality steam therapy in the comfort of your own home.
Saunas, on the other hand, are a little different. They have similar effects to steam therapy methods, but they use dry heat instead.
This ultimately lends a lot of the benefits—such as better sleep, detoxification, and weight loss—to the fact that you are sweating and tiring your body out.
Unplug from the world for a bit.

Sometimes our own thoughts and feelings are the ones to put us in a space of negativity and confusion.
So imagine compounding those feelings by constantly being influenced by what others say on social media, the news, and even in your personal text messages. It simply cannot be healthy.
For the sake of your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, take it upon yourself to unplug from the world for a little bit each week.
It can be leaving your phone on ‘do not disturb’ for the morning, limiting your time spent online throughout the day, or even turning your phone off for a full 24 hours. Make sure you’re not only disconnecting from others but also using that time to reconnect with yourself.
