Welcoming the energy of renewal into your life through cleansing is an integral part of spiritual hygiene because it makes sure that we are continually releasing what no longer serves us, instead of allowing it to create unwanted energy and blockages.
And fortunately, there are a million and one ways to do this: removing negative people from your inner circle; eliminating bad habits; and even spiritual wellness rituals to help you jumpstart the process of renewal in a more emotional and personal way.
Let’s get one thing straight about these rituals: you won’t be out here with a cauldron casting spells. At the very least, you’ll be honoring ancestral practices from way back in the day that gave their spiritual practice a deeply fulfilling physical significance.
If you’re new to cultivating spiritual practices, start simple and natural. And what better way to introduce new beginnings into your life by utilizing something we do every day— cleansing with water!
This is basically just a shower with some added steps to help you release and revive on a mind, body, and soul level. Ready to get started? Here’s an easy, 3 step bathtime spiritual wellness ritual to welcome renewal and fresh starts into your life.
Grab your white candles, a piece of paper, and a pen.
Before you start your cleanse, you need to confront and release the exact things you’re looking to remove from your mind, body, soul, and life in general.
So, grab your pen, paper, and white candles, and let’s do a burn letter.
If you don’t know, a burn letter is when you write down all of the things you want to release and then burn them as a symbolic way of letting them go once and for all.
Now, you can burn it using any source of fire you’d like, but there’s some significance to white candles.
From a spiritual perspective, white is the color of renewal in the sense that it represents a fresh start or a blank canvas.
When you’re dealing with white candles, you’re doubling down on the fact you’re ready for the old energy to see it way out and the new to enter.
So after you’re done writing all of the old, stagnant, and maybe even toxic things you’re ready to release at this moment of your life, use the flame of the white candle to burn your paper to a crisp, and then move forward.
After burning, set up your herbal shower bundle (Hint: Rosemary and Eucalyptus are for renewal!)
Now that you’ve done your burn letter, it’s time to set up your shower or bath.
This part is simple because all you’ll be doing is setting up your herbal shower bundle.
You can hang it up on your showerhead or buy loose herbs or essential oils to sprinkle in your bath water.
Since the whole goal of this ritual is to bring in the energy of new beginnings and renewal, the best herbs to use for your bundle are rosemary and eucalyptus.
From a spiritual perspective, rosemary has been used to smoke cleanse spaces in the same way sage is used.
Eucalyptus, on the other hand, is said to symbolize strength, purification, and welcoming big, sweeping positive life changes into your environment.
Try a deep cleansing shower visualization for release.
Now that you’re at the final stage, what you do in the shower is up to you.
Of course, physically washing your body as a part of the cleanse is a no-brainer, but adding prayer and visualization to the mix is a great way to bring the spiritual wellness ritual to a close.
As you stand under the shower water or sit in the bath, imagine all of your troubles being rinsed or washed away as the water falls over your body.
This is a good way to mentally and emotionally detach yourself from all of the things you just released.
As it rinses down the drain, say your farewells and give gratitude for the lessons and blessings that have come out of each experience.
This may feel awkward at first, but just take a deep breath, put your ego to the side, and allow yourself to be free.
Congratulations on completing your
