Coi Leray is ready to conquer the charts in 2023.
In light of Billboard’s recent report on the apparent drought of 2023 hip-hop hits, the 26-year-old artist wants to claim the title of the first No. 1 hip-hop song.
But she’s not looking to accomplish this feat alone–Leray wants to bring together all the talented female rappers to join forces and make it happen.
Coi Leray Is Seeking Out Other Female Rappers
In a tweet that caught everyone’s attention, Coi Leray pointed out the startling fact that there hasn’t been a single rap song reaching the top spot this year.
According to Vibe, she called on all female rappers to step forward and unite for a historic moment.
Ain’t been a #1 rap song at all this year. Calling all the female rappers to front. Here me out. ladies night. Hip hop. Unity. #splash?? let’s make history with a number 1 … together .. with love. #justanidea

One Twitter user chimed in, acknowledging the multitude of talented women in the rap game today and suggesting that it would require 30 different songs.
Leray responded with a suggestion that they collaborate using a split format, sharing verses and exchanging rap lines back and forth, while others handle the adlibs.
Someone of us can share verses. Split it up . Back and forth . Adlibs . https://t.co/SjohFwzw9l

Another fan suggested that Leray team up with Doja Cat, and the rapper couldn’t hide her excitement.
I love Doja. Like . A lot. So much. Genuine and so fucking pure and sweet . And hella funny too ?? man I would love this shit . It will happen https://t.co/9Vr3LLlHKN

Leray gushed about Doja’s genuine, sweet nature, and infectious sense of humor.
She eagerly proclaimed her desire for such a collaboration, assuring her fans it will happen. Billboard’s report sent shockwaves through the music industry.
This time last year, we had already witnessed six albums and two songs claim the coveted No. 1 spots.
The noticeable absence of major hip-hop stars like Drake, Future, and Kendrick Lamar, who released albums in 2022, has left a void.
Billboard speculates that the rise of Afrobeats, K-pop, and “regional Mexican” genres has affected hip-hop’s grip on the market share.
But Coi Leray has ignited the flame of collaboration and unity among female rappers.
